M15 with External Monitor, Performance

I am considering adding an M15 16gb i7 2070 to my collection. I would want to hook this up to a 1440p 27” monitor. Would this be viable or would there be too many compromises in graphics capability? Also, can the M15 be run in clamshell mode (with the lid closed)? Thanks.

are you hooking it up directly?  It should work fine and look great.

Are you hooking it up through a docking station...depends on the docking station.

Clam shell mode....no clue.i use all the screen real estate i can get.

Yeah no dock, I’d just be plugging the monitor straight into the computer. It’s just with the M15 having a native screen resolution of 1080P I wonder how well gaming would work out on a 1440P external monitor. I guess we’ll find out.

@Anttero  depends on how demanding the game is and what detail settings you choose.  Resolution is only one factor.  But if you search for reviews of the system, you might find benchmarks performed at 1440p resolution.
