Ansible Modules for Dell EMC PowerMax v1.0

I am excited to announce, that the Ansible modules for PowerMax was released on July 16th. Automation continues to be a critical priority in the data center – with the ultimate goal of creating an autonomous data center. Automation helps streamline operations and drive new levels of efficiency. Enterprise IT and data center operators use Ansible modules to automate routine tasks to achieve consistent operations and scale.

Ansible Modules for Dell EMC PowerMax helps you 

  • Simplify creation and deployment of standardize infrastructure; enable self service operations
  • Enable agility by supporting DevOps lifecycle operations

The first version of the Ansible for PowerMax comes with the following feature set modules  

  • Storage Provisioning (Manage Volumes, Storage Groups, Port Groups, Host Groups, Masking Views)
  • Gather information about the registered arrays, and the information related to the number of storage groups, port groups, volumes and masking views on a specific array
  • Snapshot management at the storage group for PowerMax/VMAX All flash arrays (Create, Rename, Modify, Delete Snapshots for a storage group)
  • All modules are written so that they can be run in an idempotent way, this enables the modules to be run multiple times to achieve the same desired end state
  • Supportability Details
    • Supports Red Hat Linux version 7.5
    • Supports PowerMax and VMAX All Flash Storage Array
    • Supports Unisphere 9.0.x

It is important to note that Ansible Modules for PowerMax is officially supported by Dell EMC.
