Avamar VMware proxy is showing VM OS as Windows 8 instead of Server 2012
We've just deployed a new Avamar VMware proxy (Avamar v7.1.2-21). I only have it protecting three VMs at the moment, all of which are running Windows Server 2012, and in Avamar the OS for each of them is being reported as "windows8Server64Guest".
Has anyone seen that before, and if so is it a known bug? Is there any way to get Avamar to report the OS correctly? The vCenter shows the correct OS for each VM.

normal for VM level backups, my windows 2008 servers are listed as Windows7Server64

Yes, is normal, same kernel Windows = same name Avamar.
