Avamar alert: Disk failed
Before we upgrade to 4.X (RH4,Axion4.x) from 3.x, when a hard disk drive failed or offline, we always got the alert. but we had 2 disk drives failed on 4.x, no alert sent nor logged, is there sometime set wrong or how can we correct it.
Thanks

Is this issue specific to a certain Generation or all of them? IE: what we have.

Ours is Gen 3. I even setup the alerts using Dell Administrator, and did not receive any.
I did however go into Avamar profiles (notifications) and checked some more boxes. When EMC came to replace the disk, I received notifications that disk has been degraded, and after a while received a message that everything is fine. So I guess that fixed it.
It's interesting that this did not send an automatic alert to EMC.

We have a Gen3 grid and had the same issue. I worked with support one and and it a generic alert but it will give drive failues. Under profiles you have to enable it to alert you for error code 1. You will also get garbage such as controller battery charging. But you will get drivefailure alerts.
Here is one of the ones we received:
Event Code = 1
Event Date/Time = 03/17-02:12:08.00000
Event Type = ERROR
Event Severity = PROCESS
Event Summary = HARDWARE: Mar 17 02:12:00 avamardpn0 Server Administrator: Storage Service EventID: 2095 SCSI sense data Sense key: 3 Sense code: 11 Sense qualifier: 0: Physical Disk 1:0:5 Controller 0, Connector 1 Software Source = DPN:Unknown Administrator Server = avamarutil Administrator Server version = v5.0.2.41 Avamar Server = avamarutil.flatironcorp.com Avamar Server systemid = 1276716987@A4:BA:DB:21:69:7B Avamar Server version = 5.0.2-41 Event Data = Entry key = message Entry value = HARDWARE: Mar 17 02:12:00 avamardpn0 Server Administrator: Storage Service EventID: 2095 SCSI sense data Sense key: 3 Sense code: 11 Sense qualifier: 0: Physical Disk 1:0:5 Controller 0, Connector 1 Entry key = time Entry value = 02:12:08.92382 UTC Entry key = thread Entry value = log-messages:3316 Entry key = code Entry value = 0001 Entry key = type Entry value = ERROR Entry key = date Entry value = 2011/03/17
Hope this helps!
