Can we recover an AVE from DD?

I wonder when we use AVE to backup all our data into a DD, if the VMWare crashed ,something like the Raid Group double faulted. Can we recover the data from the DD? If we can ,how to?

Hello Frank,

Yes of course you are able to, as long as you are sending the Avamar checkpoints also to DD.

This procedure normally requires the software to be reinstalled which requires a professional services engagement. However, the basic process is:

Bring the Avamar system back to a working state (repair hardware, re-install OS and Avamar software if necessary)
Restore the checkpoint backup from the DD to the Avamar
Roll back to the checkpoint
Create a new checkpoint and validate it
