Empty Session Logs

Since upgrading to version 6.1.0-402, many of my job's session logs are empty. Has anyone else seen this?  It's happening on random jobs without consistancy. Help!  I need to see these logs to troubleshoot some other issues.

EMC figured this out for me today and just wanted to let everyone know. It ended up being a dns issue on the utility nodes.  Short of it is that the Avamar grids sit on a seperate domain from the VM's that are being backed up.  I did not have the proxy servers defined in the host files on the utility nodes.

Did these backup jobs complete successfully?

Do you receive any message when you try to retrieve the log from these jobs?

No errors, just empty. Doesn’t matter if the job failed or was successful, they are blank. Randomly…..

Did you by any chance try to check the logs at the client itself ?

Good point. While looking for local log files, I found that the jobs that have empty log files are all VM images using the new combined proxy servers. All backups that are using the Avamar agent for Windows have complete summary files. So at this point, I’ve narrowed it down to all snapshots.

Once again, we are running Avamar version 6.1.0-402 and VMWare ESXi version 5.

Thanks for the questions! It’s helped me narrow things down.
