Error 3014 Image Backup
I'm getting the following errors, and I have no idea why. They happen on different servers each night. When I re-run the backup job, it completes without error. Any suggestions?

The messages here indicate an authentication issue. If the issue only happens during peak load, it's possible that authentication with vCenter is timing out, leading to the subsequent failures. I'd recommend checking the performance metrics for your vCenter.

Are you doing a quiesced backup of vCenter? Quiescing will freeze a VM for up to 1 minute. If Avamar tries to log into vCenter during while it is frozen you will see intermittent failures. Also if Active Directory or DNS servers are frozen during backup window similar intermittent issues can happen.

I think Ian is spot on, but you are both right.
I am not performing a quiesced backup of vCenter. However, the backups are taking a longer time than they should. Some servers are failing with the error mentioned here. Others are failing because the DC server is taking too long to remove the snapshot ostensibly because the backup is taking longer and thus the changes take longer to commit.
It all seems to boil down to performance
