Issues installing Avamar Extended retention 2.6 on Media Access Node v7.1.100.145

Hi Team,

I'm installing Avamar Extended retention 2.6 on Media Access Node v7.1.100.145

Following the solve generated procedure when i run the following :

./avamarer-x.x.x-installer.run

after entering requested info an start the script i'm getting the following message :

Error: Error running su root -c

'"/DTO/EMC/avamarer/installers/networker-installer-8.0.3-1.1-installer.run"

--mode unattended --install-license yes' : child process exited abnormally

Press [Enter] to continue :

Can you help as anyone faced same issue installing ?

Hi Team,

Thank you all for your feedback :

The fix for this issue is :

A) If installation went till end the do :

1. /opt/EMC/avamarer/uninstall
2. rm –rf /opt/PostgreSQL /DTO/PostgreSQL /DTO/nsr /nsr /opt/EMC /DTO/EMC /.BitRock/*
3. cd /DTO

B) ELSE :

4. Remove these software packages (AER will re-install them)

rpm -e ksh-93u-0.10.1.x86_64;

rpm -e netcat-1.10-1005.22.x86_64;

rpm -e man-2.5.2-17.16.x86_64;

rpm -e openmotif-2.3.2-5.1.x86_64;

rpm -e openmotif-libs-2.3.2-5.1.x86_64;

rpm -e libacl-32bit-2.2.47-30.34.29.x86_64;

rpm -e libcap2-32bit-2.11-2.15.x86_64;

rpm -e libpng14-14-1.4.4-2.1.x86_64;

rpm -e groff-1.18.1.1-167.18.61.x86_64;

rpm -e libattr-32bit-2.4.43-1.18.x86_64;

rpm -e glibc-locale-32bit-2.11.1-0.62.1;

5. umask 022
6. Run the installer again

After this installation runs fine

I would recommend to contact EMC support if issue is not resolved.

have you run umask 022 before running the commands?

Which procedure are you following?

Hi Kamal,

1st Many thanks for your reply.

Yes i have ran umask 022 Task 9 of install procedure :

Enter the following command at a command prompt on the Media Access node:

umask 022

The procedure i am following is :

Select Procedure: Extended Retention Software Implementation Procedure

Select Extended Retention Version: AER 2.6.1 with Avamar 7.1.1

You may want to look in the /tmp/ directory for logfiles from the installers and investigate further why the networker installer exited abnormally.
