SQL backups failing with "No targets after expansion"

Recently, we have been seeing a few SQL backups failing with the error "No targets after expansion". The grids are running v7.5 and the clients are running 7.5 clients and SQL plugins. The SQL version is 2014 and 2017. All the usual troubleshooting steps, that have often resolved the issue, have failed. Is there a known solution to this?
