"Set annotation" permission for Avamar VMware proxy
We've discovered that our vCenter user for Avamar backups requires, among others, the Virtual machine/Configuration/Set annotation permission. Does anyone know what Avamar uses this for and which field(s) it changes? Our VMware team puts notes in certain fields and we need to know whether Avamar's going to overwrite them before we start doing backups.
Thanks.

Hi brastedd,
Avamar uses the annotation field when you deploy a new proxy. It ads some details about the proxy being a Avamar proxy.

Thanks for the reply. Does anyone know what "set annotation" is used for during VM image backups? We couldn't launch an image backup without the permission being set, so it must be for more than merely deploying the proxy.
