APC Infrastruxure Integration

Hi All,

I have been digging around trying to figure if our little CX3-20 can integrate with our APC ISX manager, in particular power chute network shutdown. Would I be right in saying that there is no out of the box solution to do this?

If not is there away to pass a SNMP trap to the SP's to start a shutdown?

I understand that there is a risk that the trap may arrive prior to all of the hosts shutting down. Already been through that with a Fast-T.

Regards
John

If the APC ISX manager can execute scripts, you might get it to use the naviseccli program to send each SP a shutdownSP command. Even with the SPs shutdown the array will still draw power for the disks.

The SP's do not respond to SNMP traps.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your reply. One question though, if the shutdown command has been given, does this imply the cache has been flushed and anything has been committed sucessfully? If so then at that stage I'm not to concerned about power draw as the CX should the be last thing still running.

Cheers John

The shutdown commands are, I think, supported only on
CX4 and AX4 at this time.

All data on the array will be saved with shutdown, but the
attached hosts need to be stopped first.

f so then at that stage I'm not to concerned about power
draw as the CX should the be last thing still running.

Then why shut the array down at all? Just power down the
attached hosts. The array will then gracefully handle loss of power
when it happens.
