CX3-10c Hot Spare

Dear,

I have created 2 RAID Group Type Hot Spare with 2 disks in it as below.

1) Do I need to bind a LUN to activate it?

2) When i use the navsecli getdisk to display the disk, the hot spare disk Hot Spare: state is shown as unbound, is it normal?  (For another model VNX 5100, it's shown as Hot Spare Ready.

For CX3, you need to bind a LUN on each hot spare RG to activeate them. You can follow the steps in Navisphere's help manual:

"An unbound RAID Group component for the new RAID Group appears in the storage tree under the RAID Group component. You now need to bind a LUN on each HOT Spare RAID Group to activate them."

You don't need to activate hotspare RGs on CX4 and later.

does it mean binding a new LUN to it will have it activated for automatically replacing defected disk?

Yes. And you can always click on the help button in Navisphere to search for the instructions:

Thank you, actually my Navisphere EMC Navisphere Manager 6.24.2.5.0 is different and that's why I can't find it:-

There is no Creating a Hot Spare item there.
