CX300 replace 15k disk in place of 10k
HI all,
we have a failed drive 146GB which is 10K . We have 146GB 15K drive in hand , can we replace the failed drive with 15k one ? if it works, do we run in to any issues in the future ? I would greatly appreciate your experiences here..Thanks
.

That shouldn't be a problem - when I have a "dead" 10K disk EMC has replaced these with 15 drives in the past. In fact, they've replaced 2Gbit drives with 4Gbit-capable drives as well...

No, a 15k drive won’t suddenly spin at a lower speed !! Power ON means 15,000 RPM.
The drive’s motor will simply keep on spinning at 15k. What you’ll get is a mix speed raid group, so performance of the raid group will be better than a full 10k RG, but less than a 15k RG.
