CX4-120 import existing vault drives to new SPE

Hello all,

In a CX4-120 the SPE Enclosure is completely damaged. The DAE with the vault drives along with one other DAE with disks seems to be intact.

The question is , if we find a refurbished SPE is there any procedure to import the existing vault drives and recover the data?

any help will be appreciated !!

best regards,

Manolis

It would depend on the condition of the SP modules - are those OK? What about the IO Management Module - is that also OK? What about any IO add-in modules? Power/Cooling Modules?

If you are just replacing the chassis, it should work without issue. You just need to remove the parts from the old chassis and install in the new chassis. Label all the cables before disconnecting any cable.

thank you for your reply.

the scenario is to have a complete new spe with all new components inside and connected to the old disks (flare + data disks).

will the new SPE boot and be able to retrieve all the data?

It should - make sure you label the Flare disks and the rest of the disks for the correct locations. The Storage Processors should also have the same part numbers (it should be a CX4-120 model). The IO Modules should also have the same part numbers and be in the same slots. Basically all the new hardware must be exactly the same and same locations.
