Disk physically showing amber LED, but OK as per Navicli

Hello everybody!

I'm facing a tricky scenario with a CX500 Storage system.

Thing is that I replaced a faulted disk with a new one days ago, but I'm still seeing an amber light glowing on there.

Double checked the Disk via CLI (navicli) and there seems to be no error at logical level (disk seems to be in Enabled state).

I did tried to reseat the disk: it equalized and went to Enabled state again, but I'm still seeing this amber led as physical alarm.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Replying to myself:

Last night there was a SP replacement activity on site for this EMC CX500 Storage; and the above problem of persistent Amber LED on disk was cleared.

Strange relationship, I guess: or could be due to some 'crossed' assignment of the disk shelf to the faulted SP.

Anyway, the system now looks in good shapre.

Is the amber LED on the disk or the DAE/DPE ? Are there any alerts being displayed ? ( naviseccli arrayspa faults -list )

It should be the same command for navicli for the CX500.

This issue is whether the fault light is on the new disk or on the DAE.

In the past there have been issues with the DAE on the CX500 recognizing a new disk. You may need to power off the DAE that holds the disk. But If the fault is on the new disk, double check that the disk is supported - what is the EMC part number on the disk?

Run: Bus_Enc_Disk  --  ie 0_0_0 is the first disk in enclosure 0 on Bus 0

navicli -h SPA_IP_Address getdisk B_E_D -state

navicli -h SPB_IP_Address getdisk B_E_D -state

Is on the disk; don't have naviseccli running, the same operators works with navicli?

Disk seems to be OK as per Navicli output:

#navicli -h SP_A getdisk 1_3_4 -state

Thanks for the update - the SPB side of the disk was probably in a degraded mode which prevented to disk from coming on-ling.

Please remember to mark this question as answered as that could help someone else with a similar issue - you're own updated would be the correct answer.
