EMC CX300 Array software disk failure

We have a legacy system running a 10+ year old EMC CX300 SAN.  I received this error notification.  Usually, our IT group replaces the failed drive but Drives 1-4 are marked with - "Caution: Array Software on drives 0-4. Removing or relocating them Will Make the Array Unusable".  We don't know how to proceed.  Any suggestions?

Re: EMC CX300 Array software disk failure

The first 5 disks in the array are the OE disks (also called the Vault drives). When one of these fails the normal procedure is to first verify in Navisphere or on the front of the enclosure that the drive is faulted. If you have configured LUNs on these disks, then a hot spare is normally engaged for the user portion of the disk, but the OE part of the disk is still faulted. You can just remove the disk and replace with the same (or equivalent) part number. The new drive should rebuild.
