Optimum Raid Config For SQL Server 2005 On CX4-120

Hi

What is the optimum Raid and Lun lay out config for my CX4 120 .I have two DAE with 146 Gb Fully loaded .I have Database and tempDb And logs.

What iam planning to do is to put my tempdb and logs on riad 1+0 rg on seperate luns .And my db on other 1+0 rg .also iam using mirroveiw /s to make a mirror  on other CX4 120(on the DR site) of the same config .From the mirror iam making a clone and using it for report genration.could you guys sujjest me the best config for perfomance.

My Db size is 100gb now

Tempdb 20 gb

Logs 10 Gb

Sql 2005 windows 2008

The main thing we need to know for each lun is

1. the expected IO/s

2. the data pattern expected - sequential or random.

The expected i/o i have to check but consider it for a typical sql server

But the data acsess pattern is  random

If your DB consists of more reads and less writes perfer Raid 5. Because Radi 5 performs better in these 2 conditions.

Highest Read data transaction rate

Medium Write data transaction rate

As your Temdb & Logs will have more wirtes let it configure with Raid 10.
