What has to be removed before returning SAN to Leasing Company?
Hi,
We have migrated our CX3 SAN to a CX4 one. We have to return the CX3 SAN to leasing company.
We would like to know what stuff has to be removed before return ? Should we unbind all LUNs, delete Storage Groups, unregister all Hosts ? Is there any steps missing out ?
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for your advice.
Could you elaborate how to
1) Zero the cache (Change both READ and WRITE Cache to ZERO) ?
2) Purge all IP/DNS/Etc ?
Thanks again

If you are under certain regulations (like HIPAA, FERPA in the US), you might want to purchase certified data erase from EMC. Just in case a drive falls off the truck and some genius recovers your X-rays or CT scans

Hi,
When I null out the IP Address and press "Apply Setting", it says that the IP address is invalid and give me the original IP address.
Your advice is sought.
Thanks

The simple way:
On each SP, disable the read and write cache. then just go to IP.Address/setup for the array and remove or null out the IP configuration data.

EMC offers a service called CXClear for CX3's that will do a proper destructive (multiple 000's etc)
However if done incorrectly it will leave it as a vegetable that will need new vault disks - however the procedure is well documented so that should be avoided
