Windows 2008 - Lun expansion

Hi all,

Is it possible to expand a lun in windows 2008?

What are the pre-req's or constraints?

Yes, Windows 2003 and 2008 can expand a partition non-disruptively. Look up diskpart on Technet. There will be an article on the command line options, 'extend' is the option you want to read up on.

Once you expand the LUN on the array if you run a disk rescan on the host it will recognize the unused space on the disk. The extend command extends the partition on the disk to use the unused space on the disk.

You will first have to expand the LUN on the array, then using the diskpart on the host, expand the disk - Arun's explanation is that part.
