Changing CIFS Server doesn't change the ACL's for Local Administrators Group

Jump to solution

I migrated data from our Physical File Server to our Celerra CIFS Server.  The CIFS server was just a Temporary place holder for EMCopy purposes.  The local administrators group contains all the groups that will have access to the File System.  For example the File System after the migration has:

TemporaryCIFSServer\LocalAdministrators

At cutover point.

I shut down the Physical Server, remove from DNS;The server doesn't exist on our domain anymore.

I then configure a new CIFS server with the name and IP address of the server I just shut down.  Hence, from user's perspective the UNC path did not change.

I make my adjustments to the Local Admin Groups for the NEW CIFS server.

I remove the Share from the Temporary CIFS Server.

I re-create the share on the NEW Permanent CIFS Server.

When I go to check the ACL's, it still has the TemporaryCIFSServer\LocalAdministrators Group.

I need it to have the Local Admin groups for the NEW CIFS server.

What is the proper step.  I don't want to have to re-ACL a 2 TB File System.

Thanks,

Damian

I would have renamed the CIFS server from temp to production server name and at the same time assigning old production ip, see emc156835

Re: Changing CIFS Server doesn't change the ACL's for Local Administrators Group

I have the primus, currently doing some testing but I can't seem to complete the following command:

# server_cifs  server_2 -Unjoin  compname=W2k3,domain=abc.com,admin=Administrator

The CIFS server is mounted on a VDM.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Damian
