Control LUN availability (VPLEX / VNX / VMAX)

Hello,

this weekend we had an issue with our VG8 Gateway with its Control LUNs on a VNX backend.

The backend was shutdown and so all of the datamovers panicked.

Now we have to review our concepts regarding this VG8 Gateway.

So we have different ideas how to optimize this situation:

1. Is there a possibility to present those LUNs with our VPlex Cluster?

2. Is there a way to use different storage arrays in the backend for the different data movers (i.e. DM2 -> VNX 1, DM3 -> VNX 2)? In this case the DM2 would panic if the VNX 1 is not accessible and failover to the standby DM3.

3. Is it better to use VMAX Luns with SRDF? How would this look like?

Do you have another ideas how to solve this?
