Moving Replication SavVols on Source VNX
All,
I have a customer that needs to move his v2 replication savvols to another pool for performance and space reasons. I understand that I need to pause replication, delete checkpoints and savvols and then manually recreate the savvols pointing to a new pool. However, I have come across the following information in the tech guide...
If SavVol needs to be deleted on Source side, then do a –reverse first, then apply the above procedure, ending with –reverse back. But, source side needs all checkpoints & internal checkpoints deleted to remove SavVol, which means Replication needs to be torn down, so this is really not practical.
This seems to indicate that the replication sessions on the source side must be deleted for me to move the source savvols to a new pool. Is this correct? Do we have another procedure from moving source savvols to another pool without removing the existing replication? Any documentation that might address this?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If deleting and recreating a replication session is no option, than there is no chance to resize or move the checkpoint savvols.
If you want checkpoints of a FS in another pool you have to delete all of them. If replication is involved, you have to delete the replication, because, only deleting the replication will delete the two corresponding replication checkpoints.
There is a procedure (see also Primus emc298089) which is showing a way to avoid a full sync when stoping the replication and deleting all checkpoints. But this in only working for the destination of a replication.

Thank You Peter. This is what I was afraid of, but I wanted confirmation. This is much appreciated.
