Nas NDMP backup to disk over fiber.
Is it possible to zone a Hitachi disk to the data mover and do an ndmp backup to it over fiber using commvault?

I could set it up as a vtl, right? are you saying EMC has to aprove Hitachi as the source for the (VTL) disk?

let's make sure we are talking about the same thing, your Hitachi system does VTL emulation ?

VTL will work, make sure you are emulating supported tape library (i am trying to find the support matrix)

Are you sure your Hitachi can emulate a FC tape library or are you just guessing ?
Which drives and libraries does it emulate ?

Actually, I will be using the Hitachi LUN presented to the NAS as the source where I will create the virtual tape. I created the default tape library on the DM. I am not sure the Hitachi can emulate tape, but based on my research it appears that I physical device from Hitachi would have be in between the DM and the Hitachi storage in order to do VTL. Which is why I have decided to got with the NAS VTL route. Thanks for your imput!

VTLU uses Celerra file system to storage "virtual tapes", Celerra does not support anybody's storage but EMC.
