Which gives more performance - 4+1 R5 or 8+1 R5 on FC drives

Hi,

In NAS template the storage pool 4+1 R5 FC is called clar_r5_performance and 8+1 R5 FC is called clar_r5_ecomony. Could some one explain which storage pool is good in terms of performance. I understand that if the number of spindle increases in a raid group then the performance will increase. Is there any specific reason why 4+1 R5 is called performance pool.

Thanks

Mohan

Read this topic, it asks the same question

https://community.emc.com/message/409821

"the clar_r5_performance and clar_r5_economy pools are with FC disks only - clar_r5_performance being a RAID 5 with 5 disks (4+1 RAID 5) and clar_r5_economy is a 9 disks RAID 5 (8+1 RAID 5). The performance term in the name does not really relate to much performance enhancement - but economy one may be because it gives you more storage space (economical). As per my understanding these pool names are only two different names given to uniquely identify them."
