msrpcuser reqiured for CAVA installation ?

Hi,

Is the msrpcuser entry in the viruscecker.conf and a user on the datamover for a CAVA reqiured and why?

Have I to create the user on the DM with the same name and password like the AV user created in the windows domain ?

see  document ' Using Celerra AntiVirus Agent' page 110

thx in advance

You need not to create the user locally on the data mover - this entry in the viruschecker.conf file determines which AD user is used for Virus scanning with the proper rights.

In the earlier steps, you must have created a Domain user and the CEE & CAVA services must be running under this user and the user will have local administrative right on the CAVA machine. This user needs to be granted the Virus checking rights on the Data mover (see the doc).

The viruschecker.conf file determines which user account is used - thus the msrpcuser= parameter is used. The doc also states it -

msrpcuser=

Specifies the name assigned to either a

simple user account or user account that

is part of a domain that the EMC CAVA

service is running under on the CEE

machine.

User account:

msrpcuser=ceeuser

Domain.user account:

msrpcuser=CEE1.ceeuser

Hi Sandip,

thx for your fast response .

That means that the msrpcuser entry in the viruschecke.conf is the name of the AV user created in the Domain , correct ?

So i don't have to create a user on the DM by issue the server_user command .

Lutz,

You are right, it is the domain user, not a local user on data mover.

By the way, for granting the virus checking right on the datamover, you may create a local group on the default CIFS server and add the same user to the group and then grant the group the permission for virus checking rights as mentioned in the document.

Thanks,
Sandip
