Differences between Centera Types

Hello,

we are building software to archive/delete from/to Centera using the Centera-SDK 3.2.661 (C/C++).

Since we don't have a device for testing we use the provided Online-Clusters.

There are 3 types of Centera: "Centera", "Centera CE+" and "Centera GE".

My Questions are:

  • What type are the Online-Clusters?
  • Are there any problems that I should be aware of when I want my application to support all three types?
    Like in these cases:
    • We are always setting the retention period to 0.
    • We are deleting from the cluster.

Thanks for all the answers in advance.

Greetings

     Simon

I think all the online clusters are Compliance Edition. You can retrieve this information using JCASScript or via the API calls.

If you always set retention to zero then effectively you can treat them all as Basic edition - the only issue you may get is when a cluster enforces a minimum retention level via settings made by the administrator. In that case, your clips will be rejected for retention being out of bounds.
