Question about Hyper Organic

Hi,

In a recent ETA, a link to a KB article mentions a workaround that is to disable Hyper Organic. From what I have read, this is part of the garbage collection process, but my customer has asked what are the implications of disabling this (performance, capacity etc.)?

Thanks, Jon.

Re: Question about Hyper Organic

Hi Jon -

Organic Regeneration is a process taht runs the background, reading CDFs and blobs off Centera internal storage and verifying that they match the hash encoded in their address. This allows the system to detect and correct damaged or deteriorated information without user intervention.

I'm not intimately familiar with 'Hyper Organic" but I think it's safe to assume it is a better/faster implementation of this concept. Turning it off should have no effect on performance or capacity.

Hopefully an official EMC response is forthcoming.

Regards,

Mike Horgan
