Hi Everyone -

Several customers that I have spoken with in the past have asked questions about migrating workloads to our public cloud offering, or vCloud Air. Can you please speak to us about how this EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud has simplified that process? How long does this process typically take depending on the size of a workload? How does the process work? In the future, how can we move data from the public to private cloud within this solution?

Good question! In the EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud solution, we have specifically automated, validated, and documented workload mobility to vCloud Air. Specifically, the Federation SDDC Edition of the solution leverages vCloud Connector today to migrate workloads between private and public vCloud Air Network providers. The vCloud Air migration is an offline migration that takes place by an administrator. The VM, containing the data, would be migrated using the vCloud Connector. In addition, vRealize Automation, which is part of the EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud, Federation SDDC Edition, can migrate workloads to any vCloud Service Provider environment as well as AWS.

Hi All,

Thank you for holding this forum, quite helpful.

I had one question that gets asked often from various EMC customers. How do we launch Apps quickly for the developer community? Also, can we add backup SLAs while deploying instances?

Another question - which Public Cloud service providers do we currently support? Do we chargeback/ showback functionality for those environments?

Thanks!

With EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud launching Enterprise Apps like Oracle Database, SQL Server or SharePoint  is simple. Using the service catalog user can easily launch any of those by entering required information in just few key fields.

As part of that infrastructure and apps delivered as-a-service, users can select from the templates any changes required in Compute, Storage or Backup requirements (speaking to your backup SLA question).

Launching Next-Gen App is now easier with our integration with Pivotal CloudFoundry. This saves time through self-service and automation so that the developers can focus on developing Apps instead of worrying about back end requirements.  It is also a role-defined functionality which means a user can only select options that have been deemed fit by IT Admin.

With respect to public cloud service providers - EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud,Federation SDDC Edition will work with VMware vCloud Air, vCloud Powered Service providers along with 10 EMC Cloud Service Provider partners. Amazon (EC2) is also supported endpoint for the solution.

This is an interesting podcast interview with Jeremy Burton that is worth a listen. Jeremy talks about EMC's current plans to deliver hybrid cloud storage systems and EMC's future plans to provide the infrastructure underpinning the next generation of big data and internet-of-things applications :http://bit.ly/1wrMsOs
