Multipath Round Robin is very slow in comparison with Failover

We have the following configuration:

1. Dell VRTX with 2 M630 and Windows Server 2016 and QLogic BCM57840 10 Gigabit Ethernet

2. R1-2210 VRTX 10Gb Switch

3. single Cisco Systems SG350-10SFP-K9

4. Dell SC4020 with 2 iSCSI fault domains configured

2 M630 are Hyper-V cluster nodes. iSCSI and MPIO are configured and working. But we've found some strange problem. If both NIC which are used for iSCSI traffic are enabled and MPIO policy is set to Round Robin (or RR with subset) the copy speed from VRTX local storage to SC LUN is about 10 MB/s. If we disable one of the NIC and set policy to Failover then copy speed is about 200-300 MB/s.

The servers' MPIO is configured based on https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_software/esuprt_it_ops_datcentr_mgmt/general-solution-resources_white-papers3_en-us.pdf

Maybe somebody know where to find the root cause of the issue.

Our environment is nothing like yours... but we have the same sort of problems on occasion.  We can see 10mb/s and then suddenly it will jump up to 200-300mb/sec again without warning.  It is very odd.

I thought it might be a caching sort of issue perhaps on the disks / controller but now I don't think so

What version of SCOS do you run ?

What about Port Switch configuration ?
