Update DSM 2018 R1 from 2016R3 2018 R1 remove all tresholds definitions

I updated my DSM to DSM-VA-18.1.20.114 today because we wann upgrade SCOS to 7.3.x  After updates all Clients and connect to the Datacollector i found that the treshold definitions all cleared and removed. I had a open storage alarm before the update and it was gone away... this was how i take notice.

Sounds like you uninstalled, and then reinstalled. Otherwise the SAN and Threshold alerts would still be in the configuration.

Verify you followed the steps on page 34 Update the Storage Manager Virtual Appliance: https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/dell-storage-manager_install-guide3_en-us.pdf

Or it could be you hit this issue: https://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/sln307792/sc-storage-customer-notification-dell-storage-manager-virtual-appliance-unsuccessful-upgrade?lang=en

For sure i followed the instructions on page 34 because otherwise it is impossible to perform the upgrade because you cant select the needed action to go on after uploading the *.zip.

All other settings like our LiveVolumes are in place.

Hello Joerg,

In most cases when doing an upgrade, your threshold alerts should not change.  The only time I have seen it shows as cleared is if a complete uninstall then a reinstall.  If you wanted to you can contact support & we can look into your system to see what went on during your upgrade to see why that happened.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
