Replacing MDS 9513 with MDS 9396

All,

We are planning to replace CISCO MDS 9513 switches with MDS 9396S on our two fabrics. These are the steps I have in mind.

1. Configure MDS 9396 and assign a domain id greater than the MDS 9513

2. connect console terminal

3.configure networking, ssh , zone set etc

4.Vsan configuration.

We need to create port to port documentation where to insert the cables

Can any one put more info on this.

Hello HEagle18

As part of your migration from the MDS 9513 to MDS 9396, will you be creating an ISL between the 2 switch in order to import the existing Zoning from the MDS 9513 and the new MDS 9396.

Thanks and rgds,

Jim.

You can create ISL between old and new switch to avoid additional task to create port connectivity document (hope you use Soft Zoning). ISL will import all existing config to new switch. After Config merge you can move cables to New switch and disconnect old switch.

Thanks,
