SAN Switch Connectrix DS300 / Brocade 300 Fabric License ?

Hi,

We have 2 SAN Switch here Connectrix DS300 And Brocade 300, when i do licenshow, in connectrix i see "Fabric license,Enhanced Group Management license,8 Gig FC license' on brocade i see "8 Gig FC license". I Use FOS v6.4.3g,  I cant find information about  "Fabric license"  description, is this mean Brocade 300 cant function as a SAN Switch ?

Thx

Hi,

The Brocade should be able to work as a standalone SAN switch. The problem will show up if you want to form a fabric with 2 or more switches. Then you need a fabric license, and you need to contact the vendor of the Brocade 300 to purchase the fabric license.

Hi ED,

To form a fabric means i connect the to switch using ISL right ? and make the switch into the same domain ?

Right now im planning the two Switch as independent switch for HA.

Thx

Hi,

Correct, to form a fabric one would connect another switch via an ISL.

Note that the switches need to have a unique domain ID's to be able to form a fabric.

If you are using the switch as a standalone switch, you should be good to go.

And if you encounter any other problems, with that switch I suggest to check in with the other vendor.

Best Regards,

Ed
