how to add a switch to an existing fabric
Hello,
I have only done this task one time before so I am a little rusty. I need to add a switch into an existing fabric, actually one in each fabric A and B. I will configure the switches, then assign it a domain id greater than the core switch.
I don't remember what to do after that, and I can't seem to find the answer in the DCNM manual. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

perfect, that's exactly what i wanted to see
1) connect console cable and power on the switch
2) select yes to basic configuration
3) configure basic stuff like networking/ssh/time/default port state ..etc. Say "Yes" when it prompts you to "Enable full zoneset distribution". Save config
4) Let's configure VSAN (i'll just use fabric A in the example)
vsan database
vsan 100 name yourvsannamehere
fcdomain domain ## static vsan 100
fcdomain fcid persistent vsan 100
fcdomain priority # vsan 100
fcdomain restart vsan 100
vsan 100 interface # (this is where you specify what port(s) belong to that VSAN)
before we go furhter, how many connections will be used betwen 9148 and 9509 ?

how many links between old and new switches ?
are you using IVR ?
what VSAN(s) will need to be available on the new switches, all VSAN or just specific ones.

Yep you are correct, adding a 9148 to our fabric. Our upgrades were put off due to our data center move and storage migration projects which occurred over the last 16 months. Planning the upgrades for this August.

so looking at this picture you are using 9509 as your core switch and then you use 9134/9148 as your edge switches ? Am i correct ?
PS. Is there a reason 9134s have not been upgraded to the same NX-OS as 9509/9148 ?

No links.
Only two ISL links from the new 8GB switches to the new link card per switch. I don't believe I am using IVR, I will check. Showing a picture of VSAN 100 and it's membership switches below. I need to add asn13a to VSAN100, asn13B to VSAN 200.
We have VSAN 200, which contains VSAN 200, VSAN1 (default) Fabric A
VSAN 100, which contains VSAN 100, VSAN 1 (default) Fabric B

So on Fabric A you have VSAN 100 and on Fabric B you have VSAN 200. These VSANs need to be available on the new switches, correct ?

when you run "sh running-config zone vsan 100" ..what does it say for "zoneset distribution" ?

Yep, we need to add new switch asn13a to VSAN 100 and new switch asn13b to VSAN 200.

Quick question is this disruptive when the restart command is issued?

the restart command will be done on the new switch before it has been physically connected to the 9509.

Only four connections from 9148 - 9509 will be used for port channel (TE ports).
