unable to get logon prompt

I have 2 DS-24 M2 Fiber switches that both do not boot up to a logon prompt when connected via serial port...

I looking to assign an ip address to both of my switches, but when boot the switches in a hyperterm session, it starts displaying  serverices that are loading, but then stops at the following

SNMP: trap_task begins.....

then it just sits at the above ..  I get no response when typing anything .... I was expecting a ssp> prompt or something..

any suggestions?....

Thank you

rob davis

Have you double checked your settings in Hyperterm to make sure the keystrokes are getting interpreted correctly? I've run into similar issues and a change in the settings corrected it so that a hit on the Enter key would bring me to the prompt. I'm not sure about that exact spot you are stopping though...

Do you already have an ethernet cable hooked up? If so, have you tried disconnecting it?

robert, try it as follows:

• Bits per second — 115200

• Data bits — 8

• Parity — None

• Stop bits — 1

• Flow control — Hardware

any new results ?

do u have a reset button located on the front panel next to the RJ-45 management port ?
