Dell cut off my warranty time

Purchase Dell G7 from bestbuy on 10-08-2018 for our company to test some software, then register to activate warranty. 3 days later, when i check the warranty status i saw the warranty time was started from 08-03-2018 to 11-02-2019, it started way before i purchase, so I use chat support if Dell could help me adjust the warranty start date. A rep reply YES and  requested me to upload the receipt/invoice, after i had done all this, he report it was done and told me to check the warranty. I log in and checked, then found out what he did was fix my warranty expiration date from 11-02-2019 back to 10-08-2019, the start date remain the same 08-03-2018, the pc lost almost a month of warranty time compare to before the adjustment ...... He actually did not help but also cut off my warranty time limit. I did email, call in to complaint, but both his supervisor and manager jump in and protect him, claim that the rep had done the right thing.... well, Dell did not do what the customer want and also damage the customer's benefit. I have nothing to say, I did spend more than a day with Dell, and the adjustment could not be undone. In my point of view, Dell was wrong and did not admit. I am done will Dell. Dell may make great machine, but has awful customer care/service! if later on, some one i know want to get a dell, i will suggest them not to! i am going to keep those email/receipt as evidence!

Re: Dell cut off my warranty time

The warranty to the end user is 12 months (in other words, 10.8.2019 should be the expiration date).

The warranty to resellers like best buy is dated longer than 12 months, but starts on the date the system ships to Best Buy.  You likely would have been better off leaving 11.2.2019 as the expire date, but is it's been set to 10.8.2019, you're all set.

Also note that it's NOT a good idea to buy any notebook with just a year's warranty.  There's a 25% or greater chance a notebook will fail within the first two years - one of the highest failure rates for consumer products.  Extending the warranty to three years -- particularly for business use, where three years is a normal lifecycle - is a good idea regardless of whose notebook you've purchased.

Re: Dell cut off my warranty time

Thank to pointing this out. it is too late now. whatever had done could not be undone. Dell employee should had warn me before the adjustment since he know what would going to happen to the customer. In additional, he did something that i did not asked him to do(adjust the start day, not end day)! our company have been buying a lot of stuff from Dell and it surprise me that Dell really did this to us. Dell may build good PC, but has awful customer care! we already move on this issue, but we still want to let others know and be aware of this problem. What had happen to us may happen to them
