Scam

"Dell" called my cell phone 3 times today. I finally answered and I was told my home computer was infected with a virus and they needed to assist me in cleaning it up. I wasn't at home. Meanwhile I Dell did some research. Apparently they infect your computer while helping you "find" the virus and then want to charge you to fix it. Glad I was suspicious.

They called me in mid-November too, but again I wasn't home. This is very scary!

Our apologies. Dell would not contact in this way. We are aware of the problem and have notified our Dell Securities team. Please read the top announcement, "Scammers posing as Dell Technical Support".

I get these calls from scammers frequently. They know my name and ID. I ask them to please hold while I contact Dell. They quickly cut off the call. Does Dell contact clients directly?

Dell will only call you if you initiate the call first and they have to call back for some reason.  Basically you will know they are going to call you if/when they do.
