Write Cache

Hi,

We are installing Dell MD3820i storage and we are trying to benchmark the disks performance, we are facing write performance issue, after check we found that the write cache is increasing the performance by 50%, we are using MySQL with Innodb and we are afraid of data corruption if the write cache is enabled,

please advise if we enable write cache with mirroring, can we face data corruption if the storage suddenly turned off

Thanks.

Hello khaled.j.hussein,

Yes you will face data corruption if your MD3820i lose power suddenly. The MD3820i does preserve some of the cache but if you have an MD14xx that is attached to your MD3820i then the data that was to be written to the MD14xx will be lost.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
