reset setting md 3000i
Hello
I have a problem with used md 3000i. I don't know its controllers static ip and MD3000 configuring wizard couldn't discover the storage.Does it exist a way to reset it to factory defaults using serial cable so I can access it via the management software?

You can use the serial cable to view and/or set the IP addresses for the management ports on the MD3000 series arrays. The serial cable is unique though (one side is a PS2/svideo type connector), so you'll have to have an MD3-series serial cable.
The steps to make the serial connection to set the IP addresses are the same as the steps to set up the serial connection to reset the password. This part is documented in the password reset pdf in the MD3000's online documentation:

I connected to MD3000i and scored command "ifShow".

I suspect, that controller's ip-address is 10.217.1.110 but i don't understand wich subnetmask i must use to connect to the controller via Ethernet cable

Hi, there is a guide in this link on how to reset a MD3000i using a serial cable, lists.us.dell.com/.../038389.html hopefully this should help, let us know if this work for you.

this guide didn't help me, when I scored "sysWipeZero 1" appeared error "C interp: unknown symbol name 'sysWipeZero'"

Hi,
we just acquire a used MD3000i really cheaply. Unfortunately when I am trying to reset it with ctrl-B I am unable to make a selection. I type 10 hit enter and it just starts booting.
Did anyone else experience this issue?

i cant even get that far, i push ctrl-break on boot and it keeps booting until its finished

ctrl-break does work for me, but Remember you need to enter a capital S afterwards.
Lower case s doesn't work.

Hi
yeah i do all that nothing stops it booting though, and this is on multiple controllers, the menu appears but the boot-up text keep loading.
