Data Domain CIFS replication

I am setting up a CIFS based replication pair. The create dialog is asking for a directory under /backup/ location.

I am not clear on how to create this needed directory.

Thank you.

Hi mraether,

What you are alluding to here is that directory replication is being used. Directory replication only works under the /data/col1/backup Mtree. Therefore if you want to create a directory underneath /data/col1/backup to replicate, then create a NFS/CIFS share to this Mtree and then you can create a new directory/folder (depending upon which protocol you use to connect but essentially they are the same) which you can then use as your replication source.

If you want to replication a whole Mtree, i.e. /data/col1/Mtree1 for example, then you would need to use Mtree based replication.

Please see the DDOS administration guide : http://support.emc.com/docu53504_Data-Domain-Operating-System-5.5-Administration-Guide.pdf for further information regarding the replication topologies (note that I'm only linking the DDOS 5.5 guide as I'm not sure which release you are running)

cheers, Rich.
