In Data Domain, can the virtual drives of one VTL be spit to two fabric ?

Hi experts,

I have a DD2500 with two FC ports, and one backup server with two FC ports too. Can i configure one VTL with 8 drives, and put the changer and 4 drives on one fabric. and put the other drives on the other fabric ?

I.e. configure two access guoups in DD2500, the first access guoup contains one FC port of the backup server,one FC port of the DataDomain, the changer and 4 drives of the VTL. the second  access group contains the other FC port of ghe backup server, the other FC port of the DataDomain, the other 4 drives of the VTL.

Backup Server FC Port1<------>Access group1<------>DD FC Port1<------>The changer and 4 drives of VTL1

Backup Server FC Port2<------>Access group2<------>DD FC Port2<------>The last 4 drives of VTL1

Can this work?

Hi, yes, this is completely supported.

and actually that's the recommended configuration -- one access group per initiator.  you may want to add the robot on the second access group as well for redundancy / failover -- some backup software support automatic failover -- e.g. if path fails.
