MTree deleted with CIFS files

I previously have an MTree linked to a CIFS share. I cannot delete the files inside because Windows warned that they are being used / locked by some programs, in which none are using them.

To remove them, I directly removed the MTree without removing the files.

It seems that removing it was a bad idea because it is still taking up space despite performing "filesys clean" several times.

Was there a way to free up space despite having that kind of scenario?

Thank you.

Data can be deleted manually though CIFs or NFS. Use the instructions in the below KB (see below links) as a guide to creating a CIFs/NFS mount to the specific mtree for which the deletions will be performed.

DDBoost data should not be deleted through a CIFs share as it can cause permission issues for the remaining backup images. If DDBoost data needs to be deleted and a backup application no longer manages it NFS must be used to delete the data.

OK, noted on that.

But what if in this scenario, the following also applies:

1) No license for DDBoost

2) MTree name was similar to the previously deleted one.

3) Like what has said previously, files inside the CIFS share cannot be deleted (locked even without no one is using).

And by the way @Tabatha20, is that link legit? Seems it's not pointing me to the appropriate website.
