Hi,
As long as your new DD2500 with the shelf does not have data already stored then you should be able to do this.
If you have already created a filesystem that includes the shelf - the FS will need to be destroyed (taking with it all stored data). the storage shelf would also need to be removed from the config before it can be re-used (storage remove enclosure 2). Afterwards you can create an FS on the DD2500 controller disks only.
You will need to copy (as text) and then remove the "shelf license" and apply it to the new system - you will probably need to also copy, remove and apply the "expanded storage license" between system in the same way too.
Check licenses on both DD2500's with "license show".
Find the shelf license and expanded storage license on the new DD2500.
Copy them to a notepad doc.
license del xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xx (shelf)
license del xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xx (expanded storage)
Apply them to your other (old) DD2500;
license add xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xx (shelf)
license add xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xx (expanded storage)
You will need to move the SAS card, memory and shelf (with SAS cables) to the other DD.
When you install the SAS card, you will need to put the blanking plate back into your new DD2500 in that slot location to avoid cooling problems.
The above is the technical aspect. It should be performed by EMC since you need to open up the DD2500 to remove memory - the SAS card is a SLIC, so can be accessed externally without lifting the lid.
The contract should be changed to reflect these changes, otherwise there is the risk that you will look for support and the ES30 storage shelf will be listed against an invalid configuration because we will be expecting to see it as part of the original system not this one and if it's on a different site - parts will go to the wrong place... It will be messy without correcting it now in advance of going live on it, I'm sure you understand.
Whilst it's technically feasible to do this, it's certainly not a standard activity.
You should discuss this with your EMC account team for sure before you continue.
Hope that helps,
Jonathan
