Helloe HK,
/data, /data/col1, and /data/col1/backup directories cannot be deleted or renamed on Data Domain.
The /data/col1/backup directory is the default destination directory for compressed backup server data. Clients, such as backup servers that perform backup and restore operations with a Data Domain System, at the least, need access to the /data/col1/backup directory.

Hi Leo,
Thanks for you reply.
I am asking was because we had been migrated from Directory to Mtree completely.
The /data/col1/backup Mtree was empty and no longer use.
So this is no good to delete even it was empty?
Thanks,
Yan

Yes, we strongly recommend that do not delete /data/col1/backup directory even it was empty.

Do we need to stop the ddboost services if we want to rename any mtree that we created manually, not the default one?
