rename a MTREE that belongs to a replication pair

Thinking of a new naming conversion for existing MTREE on our Data Domain. The challenge is the one we want it renamed being replicated to the second Data Domain in remote site.

current:

DD_local:/data/col1/MTREE_1 -> DD_remote:/data/col1/MTREE_1_rep

planing:

Setup replication:

DD_local:/data/col1/MTREE_1 -> DD_remote:/data/col1/MTREE_1_rep -> DD_local:/data/col1/MTREE_1_new -> DD_remote:/data/col1/MTREE_1_new_rep

Once initial replication is done,

break replication DD_local:/data/col1/MTREE_1 -> DD_remote:/data/col1/MTREE_1_rep

break replication DD_remote:/data/col1/MTREE_1_rep -> DD_local:/data/col1/MTREE_1_new

remount server path to DD_local:/data/col1/MTREE_1_new

delete DD_local:/data/col1/MTREE_1

delete DD_remote:/data/col1/MTREE_1_rep

What would be the best way to get this done? Any suggestions?

Thanks for your time,

Harry

Why not rename mtrees with mtree rename command?  Break replication, rename it, start replication again.  In between dismount and mount whatever is using those (though what they use is export path so it is more likely you will need to update those).

Because it's a big MTREE and once the replication break, the initial step after renaming will take days to be completed. And there is a risk of missing SLA during this time period.

Is it worth renaming then in the first place?  It's just the name...

It's a thousand dollars question. :-)
