Base Filtering Engine in Windows 2008 and DPA

The Windows Base Filtering Engine (BFE) is an IP security service that is enabled by default in Windows 2008.  The BFE Service can prevent DPA from collecting information over the network because it will block a port if a large amount of traffic is being transmitted over an unrecognized port.  The service can be disabled from the windows services console, or the configuration can be edited to allow traffic on DPA's ports.  Note that the BFE service will remain enabled even if the Windows Firewall is disabled.
