Guide on Remote Data collection

Hi

I need guide on Remote Data collection without installing collector on server.

Any step?

The easiest way to set your proxy - in the GUI add your new host by going to Node > New > System, go to Assignations:

node properties.jpg

choose Add and add the relevant collector requests for your new host, highlight the requests, choose Edit:

request settings.jpg

- then check the Proxy Host box and add the name of your proxy here which will be another host which has the DPA collector installed on it (click the Browse button and find it in the list); you may need to add a credential which is basically a login ID if you need one (click Edit to add one).

After making the change you need to right click on the host and choose Administration > reload collectors

To get back to the boxes above to make amendments right click on the host and choose Administration > Properties...   Remember to reload the collector after any amendments are made.

Hi Haffiz,

Please log into powerlink.emc.com and go to the following location:

Home > Support >                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Technical Documentation and Advisories >                                                                                                                                                               Software ~ D ~ Documentation                     >                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Data Protection Advisor

You are looking for the DPA Administration Guide.  There are chapters on remote data collection for each of the applications DPA supports.

Thanks

Hi

I found this in DPA Guide

1. Open /usr/openv/netbackup/bp.conf for editing and add the following line:

SERVER =Collectorhost

where

Collectorhost is the Collector’s hostname. The Collector’s hostname must be

resolvable by the Master Server.

2. Restart NetBackup on the Master Server for the changes take effect.

what is collectorhost ? is it name of DPA Server?

Hi Haffiz - The collector host is whichever host you have a DPA collector installed and using as a proxy.  In many cases, then yes, the Collector Host is the DPA server.  Please ensure that DNS or host name resolution is valid for all the hosts involved.

Thanks

JP
