Duplicate Alerts

For some reason now I am getting duplicate emails and console alerts in OME for the same server that has a disk issue, actually all of the servers that have an issue.

I have the ignore filter on for duplicate messages but that only blocks if they come in repetition and you can change the variable. My question is more, since this server has already been flagged with an alert why am I getting duplicates showing in the home portal console for the saem server?

Hi Ron thanks for the post.

It may depend on the SNMP agent behavior on the specific device (printer, switch, server, etc.) as to how it handles error conditions that are not resolved on the device.

For a server, you may be able to go into OMSA and have some control as to how the alerts are sent out.  I can't recall exactly.

A few other things to consider:

1. Set the max time on the duplicate alert setting (600s)

2. Ignore specific alerts all the time for a specific device, severity, etc.  You may like the right click feature from the alert grid to ignore that specific alert source that you are concerned about.
