IIS 7 Application Pool Issue and Open Manage Essentials

Hi,

I get the following alert in the system event log

A worker process with process id of '5548' serving application pool 'DellSystemsEssentials' was shutdown due to inactivity.  Application Pool timeout configuration was set to 20 minutes.  A new worker process will be started when needed.

Then I get a warning message a few seconds later:

A process serving application pool 'DellSystemsEssentials' terminated unexpectedly. The process id was '5548'. The process exit code was '0xc0000005'.

There are only about 12 servers on this Dell Open Manage Essentials deployment at this time.  This occurs after I close out of the web interface like the warning states 20 minute later.

The server is setup as a VM with Windows 2008 R2 SP1 with 1024 MB of RAM.  I am testing this out before I start moving around 500 servers to this new virtual server.  I would like to fix this error before moving ahead.

Thanks

Hi and thanks for the post.

This is likely related to a low memory environment.  If I recall our readme suggests 4GB and if you are looking to go up to 2,000 devices, even 8GB.

Can you allocate more memory and see if this clears it up.  In the past, this has helped.

Thanks,

Rob

I get this error as well, but our Essentials server is on a physical R710 with 16GB of memory. Our current inventory is 150 devices.

Rob,

I have increased the memory on the virtual server from 1 GB to 4 GB but I still receive the alerts that I stated above.

Hi Ron.  Let me see if I can ask around and get some ideas.

Just to check, are you running SQL express or full SQL.

And to be clear, your current inventory is 150 devices.  That means, you have 150 total discovered too right?  By that I mean you don't have 2,000 devices sitting in the Unknown node, etc.

Thanks much,

Rob

My total current inventory including "Unknown" devices is 150. We are running Windows 2008 R2 of course with SQL 2008 Enterprise Edition on the same server.

I only have 20 clients on OME and the configuration is using SQL Express 2008.  The OS is Windows 2008 R2 SP1.

Thanks folks.  I think we have made changes on 1.0.1 that address this (Q1 release).
