Share folder between OME server and RM server

Hi,

I have both latest versions of OME and Repository Manager installed on two different servers (Server 1 - OME,   Server 2 - RM). Both servers are in the same domain and logged in with Admin account.

OME finished discover and inventory, RM was configured using OME inventory and created update bundle with catalog file without any problem - saved onto a network shared E: drive (shared between OME and RM servers)

Then on OME server trying to use the bundle/catalog from E: drive but received following error:

Import Dell Version Control Catalog for System Update from E:\Example_OCT_2014\Catalog.xml failed.

Exception message: SqlDateTime overflow. Must be between 1/1/1753 12:00:00 AM and 12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM.

Looks like a date format issue but I don’t know how to fix it. Any idea?

NO problem use catalog file saved in local drive C: though.

Thanks.

also, please confirm you are using the same catalog from C: to E:.  We may not support a shared folder for this...just some things to check.

Thanks for the question.

This issue could be caused by a wrong date parameter in the RM catalog. One of the packages has an error by assigning an invalid value to a date-time object. We would need a copy of the catalog to pin point this issue.  Can you call 800-945-3355 to open a ticket so the support guys can take a closer look?

Thanks,

Rob

If use catalog file in local C: drive, everything worked OK.

If use the same catalog file sitting in E: drive (shared drive), received error above.

Hi KLM Engineer :)

If it is a mapped Windows network drive it will not work. Mapped drives are only available to the user in Windows. OME runs under different credentials and won't see the mapped drive.

To make it work you need to access the UNC share from OME, and you probably need to configure the access permissions of the share.

Hi Martijn,

thx for delivering the solution.

strange thing though that when you select the Catalog file it will not work but when you type the complete share including the catalog.xml it does work.

but,, no problems here anymore :-)

so thx.

For others that have this problem here's the solution.

When you want to import a repository (catalog.xml) file in another OME instance proceed like this.

Go to "System Update" --> "Select a Catalog Source" --> select the second option "Use repository manager file" and select "browse". now DO NOT browse to your file but just type in the complete sharename incl the Catalog.xml at the bottom at "File name". so for example.

\\server\share\repository\Catalog.xml.

now click open and click import.

This worked for me.

Goodluck.
