8400 boot problem

On boot up I received a message saying that the system battery was low so I changed the battery. Now it won't boot up, it just cycles back around saying that there was a problem and asking if I'd like to boot in safe mode... I've tried all the option but nothing works.

Before closing the case, did you check that all the data and power cables are still properly connected?

Was the battery installed correctly, is the polarity correct, see HERE

Is the power button LED, green, blinking green, solid amber, blinking amber?

Check the sequence of the diagnostic LEDs on the back panel of the case?.

If none of that helps, you may need to reset BIOS to the default settings.

It looks like led blinks green about 4 times. I made a change to the bios to ATA from the default setting and it still won't boot normal, but it did go into safe mode with networking.

So that sounds like it's a software error. If this just started, maybe you can do a System Restore from Safe Mode back to the latest date available before  the problem started.

BTW: The diagnositc LEDs on the 8400 are on the rear of the tower. Bev must be slippping! :emotion-3:

Mea Culpa, Ron is correct, the Diagnostic Lights are on the Dimension 8400 back panel.   :emotion-10:
